We will depart from the city of Cusco towards the northeast to visit the archaeological center of Chinchero, located approximately one hour from Cusco. Here, we will explore the Inca town of Chinchero for about 45 minutes.
After visiting this Inca site, we will head to the Maras Salt Mines, famous for their pink salt rich in minerals. We will observe the entire salt extraction process and have time for photos. Our stay here will be approximately 45 minutes.
Next, we will visit the archaeological site of Moray, known for its Inca agricultural terraces. Once the visit is complete, we will return to Cusco by minibus.

- For those trekking the Inca Trail or the Quarry Trail, accommodation will be in campsites with basic facilities. Undoubtedly, this experience is not just about reaching the final destination (Machu Picchu) but about the incredible journey itself.
- According to Machu Picchu’s visiting regulations, all visitors must follow a pre-determined route within the site in a single direction. Once the guided tour begins, exiting and re-entering the site is not permitted. After the guided visit concludes, visitors must leave the site, and personal exploration of Machu Picchu is not allowed. Please refer to the Itinerary for more details.
- Travelers who choose different ways to reach Machu Picchu (Inca Trail, Quarry Trail, or Train) will not follow the same routes within the site. This means that you may not be able to take photos together overlooking Machu Picchu, whether traveling on the same booking or separate bookings.

The Chinchero – Maras – Moray tour usually lasts half a day (approximately 6 to 7 hours), with departures from Cusco around 8:00 or 8:30 a.m. and return to downtown Cusco between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. It includes tourist transportation to and from your hotel in Cusco, a professional bilingual guide (Spanish and English), guided visits to Chinchero (its textile center and Inca ruins), the Maras salt flats, and the circular terraces of Moray. It does not include the Cusco Tourist Ticket (needed to enter Chinchero and Moray) or the entrance to the Maras salt flats (usually 10-20 soles per person), or meals, but we will provide you with details to prepare your day.
The Chinchero – Maras – Moray tour has a low to moderate level of difficulty, with short, light walks at each site (usually less than an hour per place). Advanced physical fitness is not required, but it is advisable to acclimatize to the altitude of Cusco (3,400 meters) and be comfortable walking on slightly uneven terrain, especially in Moray and the Maras salt flats. Our team will give you advice on how to adapt, and if you have concerns about altitude, we can recommend pills for soroche (altitude sickness) or adjust the itinerary if necessary.
The cost of the Chinchero – Maras – Moray tour varies depending on the operator and whether it is a group or private service, but generally ranges between $30 and $80 USD per person for international tourists, and between 100 and 250 Peruvian soles for nationals, with possible discounts for students or minors. It does not include the Tourist Ticket or the entrance to the salt mines. We accept payments by credit/debit card, bank transfers and, in some cases, cash at our office in Cusco. We recommend that you bring comfortable clothing suitable for walking (light sneakers or boots, warm clothing in the mornings and light clothing for the day), sunscreen, a hat, drinking water, identification documents (passport for internationals, DNI for nationals), cash in soles for the Tourist Ticket and the entrance to the salt flats, and a small backpack. It is also useful to bring a raincoat in case it rains (especially between October and April) and a camera to capture the landscapes.
