Our departure begins at 6:45AM from your hotel via private transportation towards the principal port. At 7:15AM we will begin our departure towards the Uros floating islands. We will visit one or two of the 75 islands that can be found within the Lake Titicaca National Reserve, also known as the highest navigable lake in the world. During this trip you can take in the beautiful landscapes all around you. Our professional, local tour guide will provide you with important information about the Uros floating islands, where the local people continue to speak their native language and continue to foment their customs and traditions such as artisanal fishing, specifically of CARACHI, or Peruvian Silverside. Before finishing your tour of the islands you will be able to navigate around the lake on one of the famous reed boats. From here, we will continue on our journey to the naturally-made Taquile island.
In order to arrive to our the next island we will travel by boat for 2 ½ hours. While travelling we will be able to see the Cordillera Real Mountain Range. When we arrive to the island we will meet helpful and organized local residents from Taquile. Here we will be able to recognize the impressive skill level they hold for weaving on the island, where the yarn making and weavings are ellaborated mainly by the men in the community beginning when they are 8 years old. Additionally, we will also see the local women’s intricate weavings, for which UNESCO delared this practice a Living Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The visit to the island will last approximately 2 hours. During this time you can do some shopping and also try a delicious, traditional lunch. Lastly, our guide will inform us it’s time to return to Puno’s port. Arrival to Puno will be at approximately 5PM where we will then take you to your hotel.
