Our biologist tour guides are tourism professionals or members of the local community. Unless it is otherwise specified, all speak English. We assign one guide for every 10 people in Posada Amazonas. If you would like a private guide or a guide that speaks a language other than English please let us know.

OBSERVATION TOWER
The scaffolding tower that we will visit is 30 meters high and is 20 minutes from Posada Amazonas. This observation tower was built so that those who utilize it can do it safely and easily. The stairs have railings on either side and you can rest on the small platforms provided every 2 meters. From the top you will not only be able to see the spectacular Tambopata River and the canopy but also the birds that live in these high parts such as toucans, parrots and macaws.

DAY 02: VISIT TRES CHIMBADAS LAKE – PARROT CLAY LICK – ETHNOBOTNICAL TOUR – NIGHT WALK
Meals Included: 01 Breakfast, 01 Lunch and 01 Dinner
VISIT THE TRES CHIMBADAS LAKE
Tres Chimbadas is located 30 minutes away by boat and 45 minutes walking from Posada Amazonas. Once here, we will row around the lake on a catamaran in search of a family of nine giant river otters (these are be seen by 60% of our visitors). We will also see other local fauna such as caimans, hoatzins, and riverside birds. The otters are most active from dawn until around 8 or 9AM.
PARROT CLAY LICK
The Parrot Clay Lick is only 20 minutes away on foot from Posada Amazonas. From a hidden lookout approximately 20 meters away we can observe dozens of parrots and perakeets that come down nearly every clear morning in order to eat the clay found along the river. Species such as the Southern Mealy Parrot, the Blue-Headed Parrot, and the Black-Headed Parakeet can all be found here at the clay lick. The clay lick is active from sunrise-on.
LUNCH ETHNOBOTNICAL TOUR
A 20 minute boat ride will take us down the river to a path designed by the Centro Ñape staff. The Centro Ñape is a community organization that produces medicines using medicinal plants from their ethnobotnical center as a base and they administer them to people who have gone there looking for healing. They have elaborated a tour that explains the different uses of select plants.
DINNER
NIGHT WALK
This evening you have the opportunity to partake on a night walk which is when the majority of mammals in this region are active, although rarely seen by onlookers. Local frogs with different, extravagent shapes and sounds are much easier to spot along the walk.
