Hours of Hiking: 04
On this first day we will begin our activities picking up our passengers from their respective hotels. From here we will then head towards the town of CALCA located in the Sacred Valley at approximately 01 hour from Cusco in bus. Here we will make a quick stop in order to do some shopping for the children that we will encounter on our route from CALCA TO LARES. From here we then head to the district of Lares which is the starting point on our hike.
Upon arrival to Lares we will have the opportunity to visit local hot springs or thermal baths (35-40 degrees Celsius) that are rich in sulfates such as potasium and calcium and that are helpful for people with arthritis and muscular pain. After enjoying our bath here we will begin our first day of hiking at 3200 m for approximately one hour before stopping for lunch. In the afternoon we will begin our modest ascent towards our campsite. Along the way we will see the changes in vegetation as we will begin leaving the valley and head towards the ecological zone known as the Andean plateau. There we will find local families that dedicate their lives to agriculture. They produce items such as potatoes, corn, barley, lima beans and more. From here we will arrive at our first campsite of Wacawasi at 3820 m.

We will also head to the highest point of our trek (4400 m) where along the way we will see the local people dressed in their traditional, colorful ponchos farming their land.
