Our excursion begins with hotel pick-up at 8:30AM. Our private transportation will take you to the principal port or dock in order to then begin departure on a speed boat towards the floating islands of Uros. Navigation time will be approximately 30 minutes. This excursion provides us with an opportunity to visit one of Puno’s most important attractions, the “Floating Islands of Uros”, a millennia old town that lives amongst the reeds. The community speaks AYMARA and they maintain the traditions of artisanal fishing, wild bird hunting, and the harvesting of eggs from birds inhabitating the islands. The men on the islands are skilled builders and navigators of reed rafts while the women are expert weavers. Our local, specialized guide will provide you with a general explanation of the daily life and habits of the island’s inhabitants. We will then begin our return to the Puno port in order to take you back to your hotel in the city.
