DAY 01: LIMA-CUSCO-TRANSFER CUSCO-URUBAMBA (SACRED VALLEY)

DAY O1: ARRIVAL TO CUSCO AND TRANSFER TO URUBAMBA (SACRED VALLEY)

On this day we will begin with our previously coordinated transfer from the Cusco airport towards our hotel in the Sacred Valley (1 ½ hours tourist transportation). Along the way we will make a brief stop in order to see some of the local snowy peaks such as CHICON (5530 m), VERONICA (5735 m), and SALKANTAY (6271m). From here we will continue on our journey towards the CHINCHERO archeological site where we will enjoy a guided tour of the complex.

Finishing our tour of the archeological site we will visit an artisanal center where local women will show us the different textiles that they create utilizing alpaca and sheep’s wool fibers. They will also teach us about the natural ingredients they use to dye the wool such as different, local herbs, seeds, flowers, minerals, and even insects such as the cochineal. When we are finished we will head towards Urubamba where upon arrival we check-into our hotel and have some time to rest.

DAY 02: URUBAMBA-MARAS SALT FLATS-MORAY-OLLANTAYTAMBO-TRAIN TO MACHU PICCHU TOWN (OVERNIGHT)

This morning our transportation service will pick us up at 8:30AM in order to take us to the experimental center of MORAY. Here we will find a construction of Andean terraces that were made in circular form over a natural depression found in the area that was utilized in order to cultivate a variety of plants. We will then head to the MARAS salt flats where we will find the pink salt mines utilized by the Andean people, such as the Incas as well as others, for varying purposes. Finishing this visit we then head towards Ollantaytambo (a living Inca city) so that we can visit the archeological site of the same name. Here we will have a guided tour where we can appreciate all of the Inca hydraulic engineering as well as the architecture and astronomic evidence that can be found in this great city.

After having breakfast in our hotel we head to the Ollantaytambo train station to board our train to Machu Picchu. Here we will see the beautiful geography that surrounds us and with luck will catch a view of VERONICA (5735 m), the tallest mountain in the Urubamba Mountain Range. We then enter the cloud forest, which is home to many different species of birds as well as unique orchids. When we arrive to Aguas Calientes we head towards our hotel to check-in and rest. In Aguas Calientes you can find various dinner options available. (NOT INCLUDED)

DAY 03: MACHU PICCHU VISIT – HUAYNAPICCHU MOUNTAIN – RETURN TO CUSCO
Meals Included: 01 Breakfast

After breakfast we will leave our hotel early to board the bus that will take us up to Machu Picchu. Here we will begin our 2 hour guided tour of the citadel. From there we will begin our ascent of approximately 1 ½ hours up the famous HUAYNAPICCHU mountain where we can catch a view of Machu Picchu below. (This is quite a technical hike that requires hikers to be in good physical condition). We will have time for photographs and then begin our descent to Machu Picchu town where we will take time for lunch (not included) and get ready to board our train back to Cusco. First we will take the train to Ollantaytambo and then we will travel via minibus from Ollantaytambo to Cusco where you will be taken to your hotel.

DAY 04: CUSCO CITY TOUR – FREE AFTERNOON

Meals Included: 01 Breakfast

In the morning (9AM) we will visit the varying attractions that Cusco has to offer with a guided tour. Places such as the QORICANCHA temple, the CATHEDRAL, the local SAN PEDRO MARKET, and the archeological sites of SACSAYHUAMAN and QENQO are all on our list of places to see. We then return to our hotel where you will have a free afternoon in order to rest, explore, or do some shopping before heading back to Lima.

DAY 05: RETURN TO LIMA

Meals Included: 01 Breakfast

Today we will have a transfer from our hotel to the airport in Cusco in order to board your domestic flight to Lima where you can then catch your flight home. This day does not included hotel stay in Lima.
